Landlords

Good for Your Business and Your Community

As a landlord, you can be part of solving homelessness in our city. We help people find a place to rent, and that could be one of your units. Our Housing First team will help you find tenants, coordinate moves, ensure rent is paid every month, and provide 24/7 support for any issues that may arise.

Why Partner with Us?

Our Housing First team works with people to find permanent housing and provide ongoing supports. In Ottawa, there are over 135 landlords and 1700 tenants involved in Housing First programs like ours, so you can rest assured this is a proven model.

Assistance resolving rent-related matters

Our clients have access to a housing allowance, which is paid directly to the landlord by the City of Ottawa. Our team can provide landlords with additional support around rent-related matters as needed.

Someone to answer your questions

Our Housing Specialist and Housing First Practitioners are experts at what they do. If you have a question about how the program works or need more information, you can count on Options Housing to respond to your call or email.

Supports to help you address tenant issues

Should you have any questions or concerns related to a Housing First tenant, we’re always here to help. Unlike when you rent to a private market tenant, with Options Housing, you won’t be alone. We also help ensure that our clients are informed of their rights and responsibilities as a tenant.

Help with move-ins and move-outs

We know recruiting new tenants and coordinating logistics of moves can be a headache. Options Housing can help you fill rental vacancies and make the moving process more efficient. Housing First landlords also have access to the City of Ottawa Landlord Damage Fund, should there ever be any damages beyond regular wear and tear.

Ultimately… less work and more time!

By working with our Housing First Program, you gain access to a team of experts and resources. We’re here to ensure the process goes smoothly and successfully for everyone involved.

How it Works

1
Contact us.
2
We will learn about your housing availability and needs, then match potential tenants to your rental unit(s).
3
We’ll work together to schedule viewings so you can meet with the prospective tenant and a member of our team.
4
If you and a Housing First client enter into a tenancy agreement, our team will provide supports to both you and the tenant. We support the tenant and the landlord for as long as is needed and are always available to help with any questions or concerns for current or former clients.
